John Valentine

 Born November 17, 1896 - Died September 8, 1964

John Valentine Beamer was an American Politician.

Beamer served during World War I as part of Field Artillery. After the war Beamer returned to Indiana where he held a variety of jobs with a variety of companies. He was a representative for a School Text Book Company and held a Vice President position in the Wabash Baking Powder Chemical Company and the Union Rock Wool Corp.

In 1949 Beamer served in the Indiana State House of Representatives until 1950. In 1950 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives where he served 4 consecutive terms starting in 1951 and ending in 1959. In 1958 he unsuccessfully ran for a 5th term.

Beamer is best know for the Driver License Compact which he helped enact. The Driver License Compact opened the door for driver license suspension and other issues to be shared between states.

Beamer was a member of Hanna Lodge No. 61 in Wabash, Indiana.
