Today in Masonic History Perkins Bass is born in 1912.
Perkins Bass was an American politician.
Bass was born in East Walpole, Massachusetts on October 6th, 1912. He attended Milton Academy a private preparatory school in Milton, Massachusetts. He graduated in 1934 from Dartmouth College and later from Harvard Law School.
During World War II Bass served in United States Army Air Forces in Asia.
Prior to and after returning from the World War II, Bass was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives serving 4 non-consecutive terms. The first was in 1939 and again in 1941. He was elected again in 1947. In 1949 he was elected to the New Hampshire State Senate serving there for two years before returning to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1951.
In 1954, Bass was elected to the United States House of Representatives. He served four terms from leaving in 1963. In 1962, he ran for a United States Senate seat unsuccessfully.
From 1972 to 1976, Bass served as a selectman in Peterborough, New Hampshire.
Bass passed away on October 25th, 2011 at the age of 99.
Bass was a member of Altemont Lodge No. 26 in Peterborough, New Hampshire.
