Alva B. Adams is Born

Today in Masonic history Alva B. Adams is born in 1875.

Alva Blanchard Adams was an American Politician.

At the end World War I Adams served as Major in Judge Advocate Generals office.

In 1923 Adams was appointed to complete the vacated Senate term due to the death of Samuel D. Nicholson. Adams chose not run in the special election in 1924 to finish the term. Instead he ran in the regular election later that same year for the second Senate seat from Colorado. He was unsuccessful.

Adams ran successfully in 1932 for a US Senate seat and served until his death in 1941 just days before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Under the Rocky Mountain National Park is the Alva B. Adams Tunnel. It is 13.1 miles long and crosses the Continental Divide.

Adams was a Freemason and a Shriner.
